Handicraft training for women

KATHMANDU: Department of Handicraft, Nepal Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) in association with Maitidevi Smriti Kendra organized a six-day handicraft training on Sunday.

KATHMANDU: Department of Handicraft, Nepal Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) in association with Maitidevi Smriti Kendra organized a six-day handicraft training on Sunday.


The primary aim of the training was to help the participants build confidence, and make them economically self-dependent through their skills, as per the press statement released by NAFA. The chief guest at the program, former minister and vice president of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist) Astalaxmi Shakya, was quoted as saying, “This training will definitely help generate opportunities for self-employment and acquire skills needed for the same.” Sushma Rajbhandri, Head of Department of Handicraft, NAFA was also quoted as saying, “Department of Handicraft, NAFA is always ready to support women and to develop their skills.”

According to the press statement, there are a total of 12 women participants in the training that will continue till Friday.
