Hanuman Jayanti being marked in Nepalgunj

NEPALGUNJ, April 5: The Hanuman Jayanti celebrations have kicked off at Hanumangadhi in Nepalgunj Sub Metropolitan City-2, Banke district. The three-day festival was inaugurated amid the recitation of Akhanda Ramayana and the conduction of Nisan puja.

NEPALGUNJ, April 5: The Hanuman Jayanti celebrations have kicked off at Hanumangadhi in Nepalgunj Sub Metropolitan City-2, Banke district. The three-day festival was inaugurated amid the recitation of Akhanda Ramayana and the conduction of Nisan puja. 


On the occasion, a special team of 12 people from Ayodhya in India, who arrived here, would today evening carry out a special tableau, sing hymns of lord Shreeram, recite scriptures and perform Tandav dance, said Jitendra Singh, vice chairperson of the Hanuman Temple Operation and Management Committee.

Devotees have arrived from various parts of Nepal including Kathmandu, Biratnagar, Butwal, Surkhet, and Salyan, and from as far as various parts of India, he said. Arrangements have been made to feed around 20,000 devotees with approximately Rs 2.8 million donated by various people, according to him.  "An incarnation of Hanumanji will be exhibited and stories of lord Shreeram will be recited," he said. 


On the occasion, Shiva Leela and Shreeram Leela will be performed, and devotees will observe vigil throughout the nights and sing hymns, said religious campaigner Arjun Dhimal. The Jayanti celebrations will be concluded by carrying out a chariot procession, he added.
