KATHMANDU, Aug 17: Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Ranjit Rae on Wednesday said that high-level visits between Nepal and India will be held soon.
He said that the India visit by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, Bimalednra Nidhi will be focused on finalizing dates for Nepal visit by Indian President Pranab Mukherjee and India visit by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and President Bidya Devi Bhandari.
Speaking at an interaction at Reporters’ Club, the Indian envoy said, “There is a need of high-level visits between the two countries. Such visits will further enhance the cordial relations.”
He said that the dates for the visits have not been finalized yet, adding that they are working to that end.
On a separate note, envoy Rae said that India wishes for stability, peace and development in Nepal.
“We want to see a developed Nepal. India is ready to extend any sorts of assistances for that,” he said.
Saying that achieving a double-digit economic growth is India’s main objective, Rae added that stability and development of the neighboring countries is a must to attain it.
“Instability in the neighboring countries will cause instability in India and vice versa,” he said.
On the occasion, envoy Rae refuted claims that India wants instability in Nepal.
“Instability in Nepal is against India’s interest as instability here will hamper India’s development goals,” he said.
