Homework on to hold local poll by mid-march next year: PM's Advisor

KATHMANDU, Aug 14: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal's chief political advisor Chandra Prakash Khanal has said the government was making homework to ensure the local election by mid- March next year.



At a face-to-face program organized by the Reporters' Club here Sunday, PM's Chief political advisor, however, said as per the election calendar, the local poll should be conducted by mid-April, 2017.



Terming the demands put forth by the Madhesi Front the national agenda, he said it was also the responsibility of the CPN (UML) to help create atmosphere conducive for addressing the Morcha's voices.



Consensus, cooperation and unity at the political level were essential to ensure meaningful enforcement of the constitution, he stressed, expressing his hope that there would be political agreement to hold the local poll on time.



Controlling black market, reducing price rise and curbing corruption were the priorities of the government, and people had started feeling the presence of the government.



On the occasion, Federal Socialist Forum Nepal's Co-Chair Rajendra Shrestha claimed that the country would suffer another crisis if all elections from local to central were not held in the one and half years. He said he was hopeful that the government would implement agreements reached with the party in course of the formation of the Dahal-led government. RSS
