House to start deliberations on impeachment motion from Tuesday

KATHMANDU, Oct 23: The Legislature-Parliament will begin deliberations on the impeachment motion filed against suspended Chief Commissioner at the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Lokman Singh Karki from Tuesday.

KATHMANDU, Oct 23: The Legislature-Parliament will begin deliberations on the impeachment motion filed against suspended Chief Commissioner at the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Lokman Singh Karki from Tuesday.



The motion was presented at the parliament meeting on Sunday. Speaker Onsari Gharti told the meeting that the deliberations on the impeachment motion will begin at 3 pm on Tuesday.


Following conclusion of the deliberations, the motion will be forwarded to the newly-formed impeachment recommendation committee for investigation. The committee should present a report before the parliament with an opinion within one month.



As many as 157 lawmakers from the main opposition CPN-UML and major ruling party CPN (Maoist Center) had registered an impeachment motion against Karki in the parliament on Wednesday.

Nepali Congress (NC), the largest party is the parliament, is yet to come up with an official opinion on the impeachment. The CPN (Maoist Center) has assigned its Chairman and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal to take a decision through an understating among all the political parties.
