ILAM, April 28: Vote counting for the Ilam-2 and Bajhang 1(a) by-elections held on Saturday has started.
District Election Officer Devicharan Phuyal stated that vote counting is underway at two venues in Gautam Buddha City Hall situated in Ilam Municipality-2.
The tallying process has been initiated from Phakphokthum Rural Municipality-1.
Painstakingly slow vote-counting a new challenge for EC
A total of 69,287 votes were cast out of 1,15,889 eligible voters, reflecting a 60 percent turnout in the Ilam by-election.
Following an all-party meeting held this morning, a decision was reached to commence the vote count.
The counting process has commenced at the District Court in Chainpur, where officials will tabulate the votes cast by the electorate.
Out of a total of 61,748 eligible voters, Bajhang recorded a turnout of 30,328 votes on Saturday.
