Increase investment in youth: President Bhandari

KATHMANDU, August 12: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has called for increased investment in empowerment of the youth, who are the medium of socio-economic and political change of the society.

KATHMANDU, August 12: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has called for increased investment in empowerment of the youth, who are the medium of socio-economic and political change of the society. 


Speaking at a program organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports to mark the International Youth Day here today, she also appealed to the government and the private sector to invest more in the youths. "It is the investment in the youths that will ensure economic prosperity, sustainable development and peace", she said while urging the government to effectively implement the youth policy, strategy and vision.

The President was of the view that the youths should be provided with skills, technology and capital as per their abilities to make them self-employed and entrepreneurs inside the country. Quality higher education and technical skills will promote professionalism and entrepreneurship in the youth. 


She also called for utilization of the numerous possibilities in the field of tourism, agriculture and water resources to open a new door to the country's development and through the medium of the youths. 


Also speaking at the programme, Minister for Youth and Sports Rajendra Kumar KC said his Ministry was committed to promoting entrepreneurship among the youth population of the country through effective implementation of strategy and vision focused on them. 


As per the latest census, youth who fall between the age of 16 to 40 in Nepal account for almost 40 per cent of the total population of the country. RSS
