KATHMANDU, Nov 2: Indian President Pranab Mukherjee arrived in Kathmandu on a three-day state visit at the invitation of President Bidhya Devi Bhandari.
He landed at the Tribhuvan International Airport at 12:30 pm on a speical aircraft of the Indian Airforce.
President Bhandari received President Mukherjee at the TIA.
It is after a period of 18 years that an Indian President has visited Nepal. The last Indian President to visit Nepal was KR Narayanan on May 28, 1998.

President Mukherjee will hold talks with President Bidhya Devi Bhandari at Sheetal Niwas this evening. President Bhandari is hosting a dinner reception in honor of Mukherjee.
On Thursday, Mukherjee will visit Pashupatinath Temple and on the same day Kathmandu University will confer an honorary title on him.
During his three-day state visit, the Indian president is also scheduled to visit Janakpur and Pokhara.
Indian President Mukharjee will visit the Ram Janaki Temple and other religious and cultural places in Janakpur and visit tourist places in Pokhara on November 4.
Meanwhile, the government has announced a public holiday in honour of the visiting Indian President.
Mukherjee will also hold talks with Prime Minister and other leaders of Nepal before returning home after wrapping up his three-day state visit on Friday.
