How the world voted in Turkish referendum
By Republica

With the result currently disputed by the opposition, the Turkish constitutional referendum has handed sweeping new powers to the country’s president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The campaign was fought heavily, not just in Turkey but also in foreign countries where Turkish citizens were granted the right to vote.

Although the countries voting ‘no’ were in the majority, the battlegrounds that really mattered for Erdoğan in terms of sheer numbers were in favor of his proposed amendments. In Germany, a majority 412 thousand ‘yes’ votes were cast. In France, the Netherlands, and Belgium, the ‘yes’ vote also won, with a combined 228 thousand in support. This chart shows the overall results of the 2017 Turkish constitutional referendum, by country.
