POKHARA, March 31: CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has said that the upcoming local elections will not be halted over domestic disputes, arguing that no one should disrupt the local polls in the name of internal disputes.
Addressing a party cadres’ gathering in Pokhara on Friday, Oli maintained that the local bodies are headless since the last 15 years. Local elections have taken place for almost two decades.
After years, the date for local polls has been announced, Oli said, adding, “There is no logical ground for raising voices against the local polls slated for May 14.”

“No party should go against the polls on the ground of intra-party conflicts. Intra-party disputes should not be reflected at the national level. No power can hold back the local elections,” Oli said.
He further said that CPN-UML is all set to take part in the elections and claimed that his party will emerge victorious.
“UML will make a sweeping victory even if all the other parties take part in the elections forming a joint panel.” UML does not harbor any enmity against any parties. It believes in free and fair elections,” Oli added.
Accusing some parties of sticking to their guns on the amendment of the constitution, Oli made it clear that UML will never support the amendment of the constitution if that is against the interest of the nation.
