Japanese State Minister Nobuo calls on PM Dahal

KATHMANDU, Aug 31: Visiting Japan's State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Nobuo Kishi, on Wednesday paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal.


The Japan's State Minister arrived here yesterday on a three-day official visit.


During the meeting that took place at the Office of the Prime Minister, PM Dahal applauded Japan for its continuous assistance to Nepal on many fronts, expressing hope that bilateral ties existing between the two countries would further get consolidated in the days ahead.

On the occasion, the Prime Minister urged the Japan Government to assist Nepal's efforts to achieve political stability and lead the country towards the path of development after the promulgation of the constitution in the country, according to PM Press Advisor Gobinda Acharya.


Besides, the PM expected for Japan's assistance in the implementation of the Kathmandu-Naubise Tunnel Road Project, a large-scale investment project.


Japan's State Minister congratulated Nepal for the successful promulgation of the constitution and praised the incumbent government for its action plans aimed at enforcing the constitution, completing the remaining task of peace process, rebuilding structure damaged by the earthquake and achieving economic progress and prosperity.


He pledged Japan's support and cooperation in the interests of Nepal.


Welcoming the proposal floated by PM Dahal for Japan's assistance regarding the implementation of the Kathmandu- Naubise Tunnel, he pledged to make initiatives on his part to allocate assistance worth Rs 18 billion from the Japanese government to the project.


The Japan's State Minister is here in course of taking part in a special ceremony to be organised here tomorrow on the occasion of the diamond jubilee of the establishment of Nepal-Japan relations. The government and Japanese Embassy here are jointly organising the ceremony.


PM Dahal and the Japanese State Minister are scheduled to address the ceremony.


During his stay here, Mr Nobuo will pay a courtesy call on President Bidya Devi Bhandari. RSS
