KATHMANDU, Aug 9: Kathmandu District Kabaddi (KDKA) Association is set to organize Hira Memorial Inter School Boys and Girls Kabaddi Tournament from August 11 to 13.
The matches will be held at Social Welfare Sports Center, Nayabazar, Kathmandu. According to the organizer, 22 boys' teams and 16 girls' team from Kathmandu district are taking part in the tournament.
Organizing a press meet in Kathmandu on Monday, KDKA informed that all games will be played as per the rule of All Nepal Kabaddi Association and Asian Amateur Kabaddi Federation.
Bhimeshwar, Kot Devi triumph
Tournament's total budget is Rs 250, 000 according to the Association.
“The reason behind organizing this tournament is to promote Kabbadi at the grassroots and provide exposure to young players,” said Kathmandu District Kabaddi Association's Chairman Narendra Manandhar.
Bhaktapur District Kabaddi Association and Nepal Army have agreed to provide 10 volunteers each to run the tournament.
This tournament is organized in memory of former Kabaddi player, Coach and Referee Hira Ratna Bajracharya who died during a plane crash on September 28, 1992 in Lalitpur while returning from Pakistan.
