A tri-party meeting held among the Private and Boarding Schools Organisation, Nepal (PABSON), the National Private and Boarding School Association Nepal and All Nepal Independent Student Union-Revolutionary aligned to the 'Bipalv faction' agreed to open closed schools from Thursday.
Union's Kailali vice chair Jhalak BK said though the district police administration turned its deaf ear to release student leaders as demanded by the Union, the strike was temporarily withdrawn, bearing in mind its negative impact on students.
The union imposed the strike from May 8, demanding the release of student leaders Bimal Dhami and Ramesh Saud who according to it arrested by the police following an incident of vandalism in course of the joint agitation of students unions against the fees hike in private schools on May 5. It claimed that the two were innocent.
However, police said that Saud is under trial on a public offense case while denying the arrest of Dhami as claimed by the student union. RSS
