Kaligandaki sweeps away 76 Ropanis land

RAMPUR (Palpa), July 28: The flood triggered by incessant rain in the Kaligandaki River has swept away a swathe of 76 Ropanis of land in vicinity of human settlement.

RAMPUR (Palpa), July 28: The flood triggered by incessant rain in the Kaligandaki River has swept away a swathe of 76 Ropanis of land in vicinity of human settlement.


Local farmers have been battered with the swollen river taking away their fertile land. The river had caused big damages to 42 Ropanis in Rampur municipality-1, Tildanda, eight Ropanis in ward no 14, 13 Ropanis in ward no 15 and 13 Ropanis at Gadapani of Gajarkot.

Likewise, the river has also eroded fertile land at Barkheghat of Sankhar. The abrupt flooding in the river has covered the paddy seedlings with concrete and boulders


"The flood has caused damages to the paddy field no sooner the seedlings turn green. We are very much worried of eking out our lives with the disaster crushing our key source of livelihood", said Laxman Pant, a farmer.


The roaring Kaligandaki has eroded the land of around a dozen farmers of mapur-14, informed Damodar Timilsina, a local. RSS
