KATHMANDU, Sep  11: Two persons in Kaski district have been arrested on the charge of spreading rumors and misinformation about COVID-19 PCR test report through social media.

A squad of police from the District Police Office, Kaski, arrested Ishwar Rimal, 29, of Pokhara Metropolis-5, and Niraj Lamsal, 22, of Pokhara-9, for posting doctored PCR test reports on social media platforms. “Both of them were arrested from different places on Wednesday and Thursday,” according to police.


The arrestees have been accused of doctoring a PCR report produced by the Provincial Public Health Laboratory in Pokhara. They uploaded the doctored PCR report on social media, and misled the public, the police said, adding that further investigation into the matter is underway.
