KATHMANDU, May 30: Mayor-elect Bidya Sundar Shakya of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is all set to assume office from Wednesday.
According to officials, the chief returning officer will administer the oath of office and secrecy to mayor-elect Shakya and deputy mayor-elect Hariprabha Khadgi at City Hall at 11 am on Wednesday and the mayor will administer the swearing-in of the ward chairpersons at the same function.
Newly appointed SC justices assume post
Shakya will assume his office at 3 pm at JDA Complex, Sundhara and hold the first board meeting at 4 pm.
CPN-UML candidate Shakya elected as mayor of the KMC defeating candidate of Nepali Congress (NC) Raju Raj Joshi with a wide margin.
Shakya secured 64,913 votes, while his nearest rival Joshi totaled just 45,269 votes in the first phase of the local polls held on May 14.
