KATHMANDU, Aug 19: Local administration in Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have decided to issue a prohibitory order for a week starting Wednesday midnight to contain the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
According to a senior security official, who attended the meeting that took this decision, Chief District Officers (CDOs) of three districts in Kathmandu Valley decided to issue the prohibitory order in the three districts until August 26 as rapid spread of COVID-19 started posing a greater health risk to people living here.

The DAOs formally announced the decision to issue the prohibitory order in Kathmandu Valley on Tuesday evening.
Earlier on Tuesday, a meeting of the CDOs of these three districts had assessed the situation of COVID-19 in Kathmandu Valley. The meeting had concluded that a complete restriction on the movement of people and vehicles except those belonging to essential services for the time being was only alternative to contain the spread of the COVID-19.
The three districts in the Kathmandu Valley reported as many as 205 new cases of the COVID-19 on Tuesday alone. A total of 1,764 people have been diagnosed with this viral infection in the Valley since August 1.
Concerned over the growing number of COVID-19 cases in the Kathmandu Valley and other parts of the country, Prime Minister KP Oli on Monday directed the COVID-19 Crisis Management Center (CCMC) to come up with a new modality to contain the spread of the virus.
