KATHMANDU, Feb 13: Volunteers from Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) working at Nepal-Korea Municipality Friendship Hospital, Thimi, organized a medical camp in Sudal of Changunarayan on December 7 and February 8.
Minkyoung Gu, a KOICA volunteer, initiated the program which not only provided medical services but also offered health education to the locals and students.
There was participation of Nepal Red Cross Society, Bhaktapur, doctors of Dhulikhel Hospital and teachers of Sarawsoti Secondary School, Bhaktapur in the medical camp. The medical camp also included education on health and hygiene, eye vision test, blood group test, pad making techniques for girls, diabetes test among others. More than 800 people participated in the camp.

Similarly, the camp also provided Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training with the help of Nepal Red Cross Society, Bhaktapur.
The KOICA volunteers are planning to organize such kind of program very soon in Bhaktapur Municipality also.
A similar camp was also organized in Nuwakot on February 11 and 12.
KOICA said in a statement that such collaboration has helped to promote interaction between the Nepalese community and KOICA volunteers and simultaneously it is also contributing in enhancing the cultural ties, mutual understanding and friendship bond between Nepal and Korea.
At present there are 24 KOICA volunteers who are actively working in different developmental areas in Nepal. KOICA considers the volunteer program an important aspect of cooperation which is aimed at transferring knowledge directly at the grassroots level.
