KATHMANDU, Aug 8: The Kotal tole (locality) in Kathmandu Metropolis-5 has been sealed off in view of the growing risk of the coronavirus infection. Ward chair Ramesh Dangol said that at least 10 people in the area so far have tested positive for the virus.
A few days ago, the virus was detected in a police personnel and four members of a family. Then, the house owner of the family tested positive. Lately, among 25 throat swab samples collected from the community, six have come positive, requiring the local government to take preventive measures.

Police have been mobilized in the settlement to implement the measures effectively. Some people from the settlement went to Kapan and they were found carrying the virus, according to Dangol. The infection rate is rising in the Kathmandu Valley with the lifting of the nationwide lockdown since the night of July 21.
On Friday, the Valley reported over 100 cases and with this, entry into the Valley has been tightened and surveillance has been increased in the areas with cases of infection. All the three district administration offices - Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur - have announced to close all services except the most essential ones from Sunday. So far around 1,000 people have been infected with the virus in the Valley.
