Lalitpur metropolis and police sign MoU for peace and security

LALITPUR, Oct 30: Lalitpur Metropolitan City (LMC) and Lalitpur Metropolitan Police Office signed a Memorandum of Understanding on police-community cooperation and collaboration. 


The MoU to this effect was signed by Mayor, Chiribabu Maharjan, on behalf of Lalitpur Metropolis and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Nepal Police, Shailesh Thapa Chhetri, from metropolitan police, at LMC office on Monday.

The thrust of the collaboration is to maintain peace and security in Lalitpur metropolitan city area. 


Following the MoU signing, Mayor Maharjan said the expansion of collaboration between police and local government would contribute to reaching the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Underlining the need for effective implementation of the MoU, he asserted, “An educated and competent people’s representative can only fulfill his or her public responsibilities”. 


Likewise, police office chief Chhetri said collaboration between the two institutions would be focused on sensitizing general citizens on crimes and measures to take safety ways during disasters. “We can lessen criminal activities in society by creating synergy from the experience of police and energy of people’s representatives”. 


On the occasion, Metropolitan Police Range Chief Rabindra Dhanuk said the new Constitution has entrusted the local governments with the responsibility for maintaining law and order at a local level. RSS
