KATHMANDU, Sept 23: Legal practitioners supporting medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai have filed a writ petition of habeas corpus at the Supreme Court (SC) demanding the release of Prasai. They have claimed that Prasai has been detained illegally.
According to SC Spokesperson Achyut Kuinkel, legal practitioners filed the writ petition on Monday. However, the writ petition has not been registered yet.

Along with the appeal, Prasai has also submitted a report of being a cancer patient to the SC. The Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police arrested Prasai on Sunday from his house in Bhaktapur for an offense under the Electronic Transactions Act.
On Sunday, the SC allowed the police to detain Prasai for three days and carry out a detailed investigation.
