KATHMANDU, Feb 15: Nepal LP Gas Industry Association has opposed the decision of Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) to operate new gas bottling plants in the country.

Submitting a 17-point memorandum to the Ministry of Supplies on Wednesday, the gas bottlers said they would launch series of protest if the decision to license new gas bottling plants was not withdrawn.

Shiva Ghimire, president of the association, said that the association will launch different protest programs if its demands are not addressed within a week. “The decision to add more gas industries cannot be justified. There are 55 gas bottling industries in Nepal and only 40 percent of them are in the operation. NOC should work to operate the existing industries smoothly instead,” Ghimire added.
