Lumbini stuns Army by 6-0

KATHMANDU, June 16: Jagadamba Lumbini FC thrashed departmental side Tribhuvan Army Club 6-0 to start the Lalit Memorial U-18 Football Tournament on a high note at the ANFA Complex, Satdobato on Thursday.

KATHMANDU, June 16: Jagadamba Lumbini FC thrashed departmental side Tribhuvan Army Club 6-0 to start the Lalit Memorial U-18 Football Tournament on a high note at the ANFA Complex, Satdobato on Thursday. Similarly, Laxmi Hyundai Manang Marshyangdi Club played 3-3 draw against Rumpum Jhapa XI.



In the first match, Tejendra Pun scored two goals, while Damodar Thapa Chhetri, Janom Man Ligal, Mandeep Thapa and Sobhit Budhathoki netted a goal each for Lumbini against the departmental side studded with Nepali national U-16 team players.

Lumbini scored only one goal in the first half but added five more goals after the interval to record the big win.



Damodar put Lumbini ahead in the 15th minute and skipper Janom doubled the advantage before Tejendra scored back-to-back goals in 63rd and 66th minutes. 



Later, Mandeep made it 5-0 in the 74th minute, while Sobhit netted in the 84th minute to wrap up the match in style. Earlier, Army had defeated Jawalakhel Youth Club 2-1 in its opener. 



Similarly, in the second match, Jhapa scored three goals within 22 minutes. However, it failed to win the match as MMC bounced back to share the spoils.



Sanam Limbu put Jhapa ahead in the 8th minute and Bikesh Limbu doubled the tally in the 16th minute before scoring the third goal of the team in the 22nd minute.



However, MMC's Subash Gurung converted a spot kick in the 24th minute to keep his side in contention. 



After the interval, Pasang Sherpa scored in the 53rd minute to revive MMC's hopes. Finally, Anil Chaudhary of MMC scored the all important goal in 79th minute for the equalizer.
