Mahottari police chief and Bihar counterpart agree to control cross-border drugs trafficking

MAHOTTARI, Dec 19: At a time when booming cross-border drugs trafficking has become a deep concern, a recent agreement reached between security chiefs of Mahottari district and Bihar state of India to jointly curb the trafficking is set to bring some respite to both the countries.

MAHOTTARI, Dec 19: At a time when booming cross-border drugs trafficking has become a deep concern, a recent agreement reached between security chiefs of Mahottari district and Bihar state of India to jointly curb the trafficking is set to bring some respite to both the countries.



The agreement was reached in a meeting held at Sitamadi of Bihar on Monday. Superintendent of Police (SP) Nal Prasad Upadhyay, chief of District Police Office (DPO) Mahottari, Chief District Officer (CDO) Birendra Yadav, SP Prakash Shrestha of Armed Police Force from Nepal side, and District Magistrate Rajeev Raushan of Sitamadi, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Hari Prasad Ash along with two SPs were present from the Indian side. 



District and state security heads of the two countries respectively pledged to control cross-border drugs trafficking in the four-hour long meeting. “We concluded that both the parties should be serious on fighting drugs trafficking through our border and agreed to intensify our war against drugs trafficking by coordinating with each other,” informed DPO Mahottari chief SP Upadhyay.



According to him, they have also pledged full support in arresting fugitives taking safe haven in their respective countries. “Not only on drugs trafficking, we will coordinate with each other to minimize crimes of any type,” added SP Upadhyay.
