Man arrested after 23 years for selling two girls in Mumbai brothel

KATHMANDU, Jan 2: Lwang Lama aka Bhote Lama, who had sold two workers of a carpet factory in a brothel in Mumbai, has been arrested after 23 years of the incident.

KATHMANDU, Jan 2: Lwang Lama aka Bhote Lama, who had sold two workers of a carpet factory in a brothel in Mumbai, has been arrested after 23 years of the incident. 


A police squad from the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police arrested Lama from Makawanpur district. Makwanpur District Court has already ordered the police to send Lama to a serve a jail term at Bhimphedi Jail.

According to the police, a group of three people including Lama had sold two girls for Rs 50,000 each to a brothel in Mumbai in 1993. The traffickers had temped the girls of getting them married to well off families in India.


Lama was on the run, while his two other accomplices-Gopal Syangtan and Titung Tamang-were arrested by the police.
