The man had been staying alone in the quarantine facility from Wednesday. He had gone to his sister’s house in February and was kept in a quarantine facility after coming back to Lamjung on Wednesday.

According to Ganga Bahadur Thapa, Deputy Superintendent of Police, the man was planning to go abroad by the end of February but couldn’t go because of the Covid-19 pandemic. “According to people who were in charge of the quarantine facility, the man was acting quite normal until Thursday evening but his body was found hanging on a rope in the kitchen on Friday morning,” Thapa said.

Thapa added that the swab of the 23-year-old has been collected and sent for PCR testing.

However, this is not the first time an individual committed suicide at a quarantine facility. Earlier, a man quarantined in Chhabis Pathibhara Rural Municipality of Bajhang, had committed suicide in quarantine ward on June 22.

Before that, an 18 year old man was found hanging by a rope at a quarantine facility set up inside the local Rauta Janata Campus in Rajabas on May 1.
