KATHMANDU, August 7: Failure of concerned ministers for Education and Health to be present in today's meeting held by the Social Welfare and Human Rights Committee today to discuss the issues related to Dr Govinda KC has further delayed the possibility of addressing Dr KC's demands.
Dr KC, who already launched strike many time, putting forth various demands including reform of medical education sector, is again on a hunger strike for the past 15 days ago. This is his 11th strike including the recent one.
Cabinet meeting postponed as parties discuss impeachment motion
The Committee had called Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister, Gopalman Shrestha and Health Minister Girirajmani Pokharel to attend the meeting at 11:00 am.
Education Minister Shrestha and Health Minister Pokharel had instead assigned Education Secretary Shanta Bahadur Shrestha and chief specialist Dr Binodman Shrestha respectively to attend the meeting on their behalf.
Committee Chairperson Sushil Kumar Shrestha said that the ministers disrespected sovereignty of the parliament by remaining absent from the meeting.
Following this, the Committee however postponed the meeting until August 10, citing it could not hold the discussion due to the absence of the concerned ministers.
The Committee has however directed both the ministers to be present in the next meeting. RSS
