Milk Tea also highlights confusion of male counterpart who can’t take a firm decision and never accepts his mistakes. The man thinks he has high regard for women’s independence but shows his objection and confusion when his long-time partner decides to give her own name to their baby. He doesn’t object her decision to give birth to their baby but his main concern lies with the fact that the baby will be born out of wedlock.

The main character of the play is a woman who is a firm believer of her own thoughts, ideas and independence. She is not a woman to be messed with and is tired of rumors that take place in tea shops. She accepts the life as it is and her life is like milk tea; bitter and sweet at the same time.

She has left the habit of looking into the mirror but instead tries to identify through her words, emotions and thoughts.

The birth of a child out of wedlock gives the play a strong ending and touches audience’s heart with a strong message of change, which must be accepted by the society to let single women all over the world breathe without suffocation. The play is debut direction of Shrijana Adhikari.

It will be staged at Mandala Theatre till December 18.
