KATHMANDU, Sept 20: Minister for Federal Affairs and Local Development, Hitraj Pandey has ordered Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Office to strongly implement its work plan on development.

During his inspection visit to the KMC office at Bagdurbar on Tuesday, he also ordered the KMC staffers to work for the development of capital city rather than let the plans gather dust in files.

“We are not doing anything to arrange parking lots for the city but we are charging people for parking their vehicles on the roadside,” the minister told officials after hearing a brief review about KMC's works and plans from its Chief and Executive Officer Rudra Singh Tamang.

“So far the KMC has made lots of plans to tackle parking in various parts of Kathmandu. So it's really urgent to develop the necessary infrastructure.”

He stressed the need for public toilets in different parts of the city. He advised the KMC to make plans to segregate solid wastes.

He said that the KMC staffers should provide services without any delay to the service seekers and ordered the KMC to monitor its department regularly.

“The administrative work should be openly delivered to the service seekers,” he told.

Similar, secretary of the ministry, Kedar Bahadur Adhikari, also advised the KMC to take action against the contractors who have been delaying development works.
