PATHARI, Dec 13: Minister for Energy Janardan Sharma has pledged to take action against anyone causing hurdle in the implementation of load-shedding free campaign.

Speaking at a press meet organized by the Press Center Morang in Biratnagar today, the Minister said more industries will be opened at home if it becomes free from load-shedding and the opening of more industries will create employment opportunities for youths, discouraging them to go for the Gulf countries in search of jobs.

"Now I am in the mission of freeing the country from power-outage and determined to take action against anyone coming in my way," he said.

Minister Sharma from the major ruling party CPN (Maoist Center) said the government is focused on controlling the power theft. He was here to monitor power line in the eastern region.

Nepal needs additional 10,000 megawatts of electricity to meet the demand, as he said.

As per the new system that is already in place, landless squatters have to deposit just Rs 1,000 at NEA offices to get an electricity meter to be installed at their temporary shelters. Earlier, this amount was Rs 10,000.

Meanwhile, taking part in an interaction program organized by the Morang Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Morang Industries' Association in Biratnagar today, the Energy Minister said the government has prioritized the construction of big reservoir-based projects. He claimed that the country would be able to export electricity within the next five years.

According to him, the government is preparing to issue shares of the Tamor and Arun Hydro Power Projects for public and start the construction of Karnali-Chisapani Project. RSS
