Minister vows regular monitoring of bridge construction

KATHMANDU, Dec. 21: Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Raghubir Mahaseth has said that construction works of bridges would be monitored from the initial stages in the upcoming bridge projects.

KATHMANDU, Dec. 21: Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Raghubir Mahaseth has said that construction works of bridges would be monitored from the initial stages in the upcoming bridge projects. 


At a programme on Second Bridges Improvement and Maintenance Programme organized in the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport today, Minister Mahaseth said that poor quality of the bridges is the result of the delayed monitoring.

On the occasion, Minister Mahaseth also directed the companies concerned to effectively and responsibly carry out the construction works of the bridges. 


Also speaking at the programme, Secretary at the Ministry Madhusudan Adhikari and Director General of the Department of Roads Rabindranath Shrestha opined that the engineers to be deployed in the construction of bridges should be trained and the bridges should be constructed by ensuring their sustainability. Beginning in December 2018, the programme would continue till July 2023.
