Ministers vow to curb human trafficking(with video)

KATHMANDU, Sept 6: Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa on Friday said that the government has been making legal and institutional efforts to curb various forms of human trafficking.

KATHMANDU, Sept 6: Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa on Friday said that the government has been making legal and institutional efforts to curb various forms of human trafficking.


Speaking at an event organized in the capital to mark the 13th National Day Against Trafficking in Persons, the minister expressed serious concern over the growing incidents of human trafficking in recent years.

"All the concerned government agencies including Nepal Police are making tireless efforts to curb various forms of human trafficking and violence against women," he said.


On the occasion, Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens Tham Maya Thapa said that the government is committed to curb the human trafficking. "Human trafficking has emerged as a challenge to the entire world. We have to work together to curb it," she said. Thapa said that poverty and illiteracy are also behind the growing cases of human trafficking.


"It requires a collective effort of the concerned stakeholders to curb the human trafficking in various forms," she said.
