Mobile phone importers form trade group

KATHMANDU, Dec 4: People involved in import of mobile phones have formed Mobile Phone Importers Association (MPIA) with the aim of controlling grey market of smartphones in Nepal.

KATHMANDU, Dec 4: People involved in import of mobile phones have formed Mobile Phone Importers Association (MPIA) with the aim of controlling grey market of smartphones in Nepal.



A statement issued on Sunday said that Deepak Malhotra, chairman of Integrated Mobility Solutions Pvt Ltd, is the president of the newly formed association.



Similarly, Sanjay Agrawal, executive director of Teletalk Pvt Ltd is the vice-president, while Amit Agrawal, managing director of Life Com Pvt Ltd is general secretary and Ramesh Bahadur Shrestha, business unit head of CG Mobile Pvt Ltd is the treasurer.



According to the association, there are around 30.01 million mobile users in Nepal.



The association aims to contribute to country's social and economic development, according to the statement.
