KATHMANDU, Nov 17: The Ministry of Education (MoE) has started consultations with international experts in a bid to set up a world-class university of engineering and technology in the country.

The MoE officials started discussions on the issue in a 3-day discussion program that began in the capital on Wednesday. MoE has proposed to set up an autonomous National Institute of Engineering and Technology (NIET), aiming to impart quality and research-oriented education for the overall development of the country.
Secretary at the MoE, Shanta Bahadur Shrestha said that NIET has been envisioned as an education hub of Nepal. "We have already started necessary procedure to set up the university. The Asian Development Bank has pledged US$ 70 million to build the university," he said.
