RAJBIRAJ, Sept 5: Police on Sunday arrested an India national, who is accused of killing seven persons, from Tribhuvan International Airport.

Police had launched a manhunt for Mohammad Mastakim aka Rais Miyan of Madhubani, India  since the last year for his involvement in the murder of four persons in Saptari district and three of a same family in Sunsari district, according to Superintendent of Police (SP) Bhim Dhakal, chief of District Police Office (DPO), Saptari.

He was arrested while attempting to fly to the Middle East for foreign employment with a Nepali passport.

“We are investigating the murder cases committed by him. Additionally, we'll also investigate how he got a Nepali passport,” said SP Dhakal.

Saptari Police had launched a special operation 'Sera Kilo' about a year ago to solve the mystery of four murders held in the district. During the operation, police established Mastakim's involvement in the murders, motives behind the murder and also recovered additional three bodies buried by the accused.

Mastakim is believed to the henchman of the mastermind Saki Husen, 40, of Tikuliya-7, Saptari, who is the main accused behind the serial killings. Husen is still at large. He is reportedly in foreign employment in one of the Gulf countries.

“We received a tip off that Mastakim is flying to the Middle East with a Nepali passport.

Acting on the tip off, we managed to arrest him from the airport,” said SP Dhakal.

According to the DPO, Mastakim along with Husen, committed nine murders between 2007 and 2013.
