Muaythai player Gunaraj gets player-of-the-year award

KATHMANDU, June 16:  Nepal National Muaythai Association on Thursday honored Gunaraj Ruchal with player-of-the-year award for his performance in 2015.

KATHMANDU, June 16:  Nepal National Muaythai Association on Thursday honored Gunaraj Ruchal with player-of-the-year award for his performance in 2015.


Organizing a program in Kathmandu, the association honored Gunaraj with cash prize of Rs 10,000 for taking part in the 13th World Muaythai Championship held in Thailand where he fought for three rounds against Armenian opponent who later won the championship in the 60 kg event.

Ganga Narayan Shrestha, head of the youth and sports committee of Naya Shakti Nepal party, handed over the certificate of appreciation, while the association's president Ganesh Lal Kakshaypati handed over the cash.



Everest Florida records 5-0 win 

 Everest Florida recorded 5-0 win over Nawajeevan Sishu Niketan in the Coca Cola Inter-school Football Tournament at Sano Gaucharan in Kathmandu on Thursday. Ujjwal Sunar scored a brace, while Ayushman Shrestha, Aryuan Achhami and Dhirendra Adhikari netted a goal each.


Meanwhile, Halchowk School beat Bright Future 5-4 in the sudden death after both the teams played 2-2 draw in regular time and 4-4 in the spot-kick. Likewise, NK Singh defeated Pegasus School 5-3 on penalties as the match ended 0-0 during the regular time. In another match, Nandi School beat Vishwa Niketan 3-2 on sudden death following a 2-2 draw in tie-breaker and 1-1 draw in regular time.
