Names of schools to be rewarded on Education Day out

KATHMANDU, Sept 1: Ministry of Education (MoE) has selected the schools to be rewarded for good performance on the occasion of the 37th Education Day and International Literacy Day this year.



The ministry on Thursday finalized the names of the schools, said Hari Prasad Lamsal, MoE spokesperson. 



“If anyone is not satisfied with the selection of schools, they can report their objection along with reasons to the Basic Education Section of the ministry by coming Sunday,” he added.



According to the MoE, the schools were selected on the basis of SLC results, enrollment at Grade 9, number of SLC pass outs, SLC pass percentage, number of participants in the SLC exam.



Among the category of community/government schools, Shitala Devi Community School, Kaski will be rewarded with Rs 200,000, the Secondary School National Award, a shield, flag and an appreciation letter.



Similarly, five schools in five development regions each will be rewarded with Rs 100,000, the regional secondary school national award, a shield, flag and an appreciation letter, officials at the MoE said. 



Among the regional community schools, Baruneshwar Secondary School of Rampur, Okhaldhunga in Eastern Development Region, Narayani Model Secondary School of Bharatpur, Chitwan in Central Development Region, Ganesh Secondary School of Narayansthan, Baglung in Western Development Region, Guru Secondary School, Mugu in Mid-West Development Region and Navajyoti Biddhyagriha of Tikapur, Kailali in Far-west Development Region have been selected for the award.



Among private schools, Graded English Medium School (GEMS), Lalitpur will be rewarded with Rs 200,000 along with the secondary school national award, a shield, flag and an appreciation letter.



Likewise, five private schools of the five development regions will be rewarded with Rs 100,000 each, the regional secondary school national award, a shield, flag and an appreciation letter, according to the MoE. 



The private schools selected for the regional award are Balkalyan Bidhya Mandir, Biratnagar in Eastern Development Region, Little Angels School, Hattiban, Lalitpur in Central Development Region; Motherland Secondary School, Kaski in Western Development Region; Tulasi Boarding Secondary School of Tulsipur, Dang in Mid-west Development Region; and International Public School of Mahendranagar, Kanchanpur in Far-west Development Region.



The awards will be distributed on the Education Day and International Literacy Day on September 8.
