National Assembly passes Evidence Bill, 2075

KATHMANDU, July 28: The National Assembly has passed the Evidence Bill (second amendment), 2075. The NA meeting, on Sunday, unanimously passed the bill upon the proposal presented by Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Bhanubhakta Dhakal.


Earlier, the meeting of the legislative committee had unanimously passed the proposal seeking deliberation on the bill in the parliament. Meanwhile, NA's sustainable development and good governance committee tabled its report in the NA meeting. Committee chairperson Tara Devi Bhatta informed that the interaction was held in each province and field visits conducted to collect the suggestions from the stakeholders at various sites including Gautam Buddha and Pokhara International Airports, Bheri Babai Diversion Multi-Purpose Project, and Barkpak of Gorkha to prepare the report.

Similarly, the meeting discussed the proposal drawing the attention on the social security of the differently able persons. The proposal was jointly registered by Nepali Congress lawmakers Prakash Pantha, Jitendra Narayan Dev, Badri Pande, and Anita Devkota. Participating in the discussion, lawmaker Prakash Pantha argued that the laws on social security of the differently able persons were not implemented effectively, so it warrants the government's serious attention.


In response to the queries and concerns raised in the meeting, Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens, Thammaya Thapa, informed that discussion was underway to provide the monthly social security allowance and incentives in a convenient manner. Even the laws were being amended in this regard, she added. Similarly, even training would be provided to the people taking care of the differently able persons, according to her.


The NA would meet next on August 1.
