KATHMANDU, June 26: The Nepali Congress (NC) obstructed the meeting of the Legislature-Parliament for the second consecutive time on Sunday demanding that the government provides Rs 2 million to earthquake victims in a lump sum.

The main opposition party had obstructed the parliament on Friday also.

Speaking after asking time from Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar, NC leader Arjun Narsigh KC warned that they will obstruct the proceedings at the House until their demands were addressed.  He came down heavily on the government saying that the victims are yet to receive relief even after 14 months of the quake.

Then, all the NC lawmakers stood up to obstruct the House. They continued to protest despite repeated requests from the Speaker to take their respective seats.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli was scheduled to answer the issues raised by opposition parties during the today’s meeting. He was also scheduled to inform the House on Kabul Attack that had claimed lives of 13 Nepalis.

NC lawmakers became more aggressive after Speaker Gharti Magar informed the House about the address.

Saying that they were serious over the killing, NC lawmakers demanded the PM answers their concerns over earthquake victims at first.

Then, the Speaker postponed the parliament for an hour.
