NC urges health ministry to increase COVID-19 tests in Nepalgunj

KATHMANDU, May 4: The main opposition party, the Nepali Congress, on Monday urged the Ministry of Health and Population to increase COVID-19 testing in Nepalgunj of Banke district.

KATHMANDU, May 4: The main opposition party, the Nepali Congress, on Monday urged the Ministry of Health and Population to increase COVID-19 testing in Nepalgunj of Banke district.


On Sunday, 15 individuals from Nepalgunj tested positive for COVID-19.

According to a press release by the party, NC Chief Whip Bal Krishna Khand during a telephone conversation urged Health Minister Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal to increase tracing and testing of COVID-19 in the infected areas.


During the telephone conservation, Khand also suggested to Minister Dhakal to be on high alert and provide the medical team and security personnel deployed in the area with the sufficient medical supplies and other essentiaals, the press release further reads.


NC has urged the government to increase the testing capacity not only in Nepalgunj but across the country before the situation gets out of control.


On his part, Minister Dhakal assured that there won’t be a lack of medical supplies and government is doing its best to provide medical teams across the nation with sufficient medical supplies and other essentials.
