Nepal overcomes host Maldives

KATHMANDU, March 24: Nepal registered a hard-fought victory over host Maldives on Friday in the Third Asian Senior Central Zone Men's Volleyball Championship in Male, the Maldives.



Nepal pulled a 3-1 set win over the Maldives to register its first win after playing its second match. 



After losing the first set 23-25, Nepal pulled wins in the next three sets scoring 28-26, 33-31 and 25-19.  

Earlier on Thursday, Nepal had faced a straight sets defeat of 25-20, 25-18, 25-22 at the hands of Turkmenistan. 



Nepal will take on Kyrgyzstan in its last round robin league match on Monday. The team finishing on top in the four-team contest will automatically qualify for the final. Meanwhile, teams finishing second and third in the round robin league will vie in the playoff to determine the fate of the second finalist.
