Nepal suffers second straight defeat

KATHMANDU, Oct 17: Nepal has faced a 5-0 defeat against Kyrgyzstan in the ongoing AFC Futsal Championship 2018 Qualifiers on Monday.

KATHMANDU, Oct 17: Nepal has faced a 5-0 defeat against Kyrgyzstan in the ongoing AFC Futsal Championship 2018 Qualifiers on Monday.


It was the second consecutive defeat for Nepal in the competition as it had suffered 14-1 loss to Uzbekistan in the opening match of the qualifiers on Sunday. 


With two straight defeats, Nepal is now in bottom of Group A of the South and Central Zone of the Qualifiers. Kyrgyzstan leads the group with six points from two matches while Uzbekistan is in the second place with three points from one match.

However, the shape of the table could change as the second-placed Uzbekistan will take on the third-placed Turkmenistan on Monday evening.   


Tashtanov Aktai scored a brace for Kyrgyzstan while Alimov Maksat, Baigazy Uulu Ulanbek, and Kanetov Emil netted one goal each for the winning team at Pour Sharifi Futsal Hall, Tabriz in Iran. 

Alimov Maksat put Kyrgyzstan in the driving seat scoring an opening goal in the first minute of the match, while Tashtanov Aktai doubled the lead in the fifth minute. 


Likewise, Baigazy Uulu Ulanbek scored Kyrgyz’s third goal in the 13th minute while skipper Kanetov Emil made 4-0 in the 21st minute. Tashtanov Aktai struck his personal second goal in the 37th minute to help Kyrgyzstan sealing comfortable win of 5-0. 


Nepal will now compete against Turkmenistan in its last stage match on Tuesday.
