NEW YORK, Oct 12: Nepali Americans have also celebrated Bada Dashain by putting tika and jamara on Dashami. Even being seven seas apart, the Internet has played a huge role in connecting families.
How are Nepali celebrities preparing for Dashain?
Nepalis residing in America have called their parents staying at Nepal and also took their Dashain blessings via Skype’s video calls. During Dashain the people have celebrated the festival with their families even by taking leave from work for the occasion.
“It’s been 10 years since I last celebrated Dashain at my hometown. I feel nostalgic remembering my home during the time of Dashain. But there’s certain amount of relief that I can contact my parents through Internet,” said Hari Subedi, a Nepali American living in New York. “Even though there aren’t the same vibes like Nepal but we have been celebrating Dashain each year with the families here till now.”
