Nepali student killed in US road accident

KATHMANDU, Dec 17: A Nepali student was killed in road accident in Washington on Thursday, US media reported.

KATHMANDU, Dec 17: A Nepali student was killed in road accident in Washington on Thursday, US media reported.


The deceased is Mamta Kandel, a 21-year-old student at the University of Idaho. Kandel died in the accident involving two passenger cars and tractor-trailer rig occurred around 3 a.m. near Steptoe on U.S. Highway 195.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision occurred when a northbound 2004 Toyota Corolla driven by Bikash Sigdel, 24, lost control and swerved into the southbound lane where it was struck by a 2002 Peterbilt tractor and semi-trailer driven by 54-year-old James Smith of Hayden, Idaho.
