KATHMANDU, May 23: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Monday plunged 34.21 points to close at 2,200.88 points amid deteriorating economic performance of the country in recent days.
The secondary market opened at 2,235.09 points and went below 2,200 points in the intraday trading. The Nepse index slid to as low as 2,191.52 points before the market regained its position to close just above 2,200 points.
Stocks plunge continues as Nepse drops to 13-month low
The entire 13 trading groups lost in their average shares prices. The sensitive index that measures the performance of the blue chips companies also declined 5.69 points. The turnover amount stood at Rs 1.36 billion.
Nabil Bank Limited had the largest transaction of its shares worth Rs 41.50 million. Mithila Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha was the top loser while Gurans Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha gained the highest percent in its share price.
