KATHMANDU, Jan 12: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Thursday fell a notable 41.04 points to close at 2,149.39 points.
The secondary market opened at 2,190.42 points and soared to the day’s high at 2,237.24 points. However, the market went into a straight fall in the remaining trading hours. The sensitive index that measures the performance of the blue chips companies also declined 7.89 points.

The daily turnover amount fell to Rs 5.47 billion from Rs 7.65 billion on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the market remained closed with the government announcing a public holiday to commemorate the birth anniversary of the late King Prithvi Narayan Shah.
In the intraday trading, the market value of 21 companies went up, while 184 companies were the losers. Of the 13 sub-groups, only trading added up with 15.87 points. Out of the 12 losers, the index of life-insurance fell by the biggest of 309.56 points.
Among individual companies, Shivam Cements had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 222.01 million. Gurans Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited was the top loser, while Kumari Dhanabriddhi Yojana gained the highest percent of its market value.
