People wearing new clothes, visiting temples and receiving Tika and blessings from their elders are an important part of the festival.

Social worker Dahal said that the clothes were purchased from the money collected from the philanthropic Nepalis abroad. He explained, "Some 20 Nepalis abroad saved some money from their pocket money and sent around Rs 50,000 through me for social causes back home."
