KATHMANDU, Dec 31: The 15th annual general meeting of the Independent Power Producers Nepal (IPPAN) unanimously elected a new executive committee with Shailendra Guragain as president.
Guragain was vice president in the outgoing executive committee. The AGM decided to urge Nepal Electricity Authority to replace the existing ‘take AND pay’ provision with a ‘take OR pay’ one in power purchase agreements.
New leadership in IPPAN
The professional body of independent hydropower developers urged the government to implement the National Energy Crisis Prevention and Electricity Development Decade 2016/26 Plan.
After being elected as president of IPPAN, Guragain said that he is committed to make efforts to implement the decisions made by AGM.
"Our focus is to implement ten years plan and the direction taken by the Power Summit 2016 to generate 10,000 MW electricity in ten years," Guragain told the AGM participants.
Kumar Pandey is new vice president and Tuk Prasad Paudel is general secretary. Anand Chaudhary is treasurer and Ashish Garga, Ganesh Karki, Him Prasad Pathak, Narendra Prajapati, Pratik Man Singh Pradhan, Sudhir Prasad Timalsina and Immediate Past President Khadga Bahadur Bisht are members.
