KATHMANDU, Dec 29: The 15th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Independent Power Producers Nepal (IPPAN) has unanimously elected a new executive committee with Shailendra Guragain as the president.
Guragain was vice president in the outgoing executive committee.
The AGM has decided to urge the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) to implement 'take or pay' in the power purchase agreement, replacing the existing 'take and pay' provision. The professional body of independent hydropower developers has also urged the government to implement National Energy Crisis Prevention and Electricity Development Decade 2016-26 Plan.
Following his election to IPPAN top post, Guragain said that he was committed to make efforts for implementing the decisions taken by the AGM. "Our focus is to implement the ten-year plan and the decisions taken by the Power Summit 2016 to generate 10,000 MW in the next ten years," Guragain said.
