KATHMANDU, June 19: Government’s spokesperson and Minister for Information and Communications, Sherdhan Rai on Sunday argued that it was not necessary to reach an agreement with others to hold elections.

Speaking at an interaction at Reporters’ Club, Minister Rai said that the government should not keep constitution implementation and election on hold in the name of forging an accord.

“Implementing the constitution and holding polls are responsibilities indicated by the constitution. It’s not the issue of reaching an agreement through discussions.”

Saying that the constitution implementation action plan tabled at the parliament was brought as per the suggestions by Nepali Congress (NC), Minister Rai opined that no one should object it.
